Health and Tech Meetup
Monday 18th, 2022 was the start of our monthly meetups program at Oyo Tech Hub. The hub had 61 people in attendance.
Every month, Oyo Tech Hub decides to be hosting subject matter experts in various fields of endeavor. The goal is to share information, idea, and insights on different topics affecting lives especially in our immediate community.
Meanwhile, this month's topic focused on how we can improve Primary Healthcare service with possibility of using technology as a catalyst.
At the hub yesterday, the best subject matter expert speakers in primary healthcare were present as they engaged the audience in the hub's serene environment.
The program started with prayers from audience and later Mr Ibukun Atoro, who's in charge of the hub introduced the hub and the programs of values that would be coming from there.
The lead speaker which was Doctor Temitope Ogunkunle, a medical practitioner of more than a decade experience shared valuable information about the state of primary healthcare services which was actually new to the audience.
Dr. Ogunkunle, having clearly defined the state of our primary healthcare, he also said that people should also understand its limitations. For instance. a diabetes patience shouldn't be seeing going to a primary health centers for medical assistance or someone who has more than a baby to deliver.
Follow by the doctor's presentations, was Pharmacist Okechukwu Okey-One Onyeukwu, who also shared with the audience vital data.
He established that of about 30,000 primary health care in Nigeria only 20% are functional. He however recommended an automated system can be created in hospitals that serves as a form of alert to healthcare staffs when patients fail to turn up for their appointment.
The moderator, Mr Eniola Afolabi later joined hands with Mr Ibukun to discuss the technology perspective to primary healthcare development in Oyo state where some technology inclusion ideas for primary healthcare administration were recommended.
This was an amazing event and enjoyable meetup closed with closing prayer.
